The RodArs Gran Calipso electric folding bike is one of Bikelec's tempting proposals for anyone to make their way through the urban jungle in style on board a comfortable and easy to ride an electric folding bike thanks to its open frame, with the comfort and provocative image of its fat 24-inch diameter wheels, a range of 50-65 kilometers in the city, with the battery as standard, amazing strength and a wide range of features. It shares the comfort of its 4-inch-wide wheels and folding frame with other models in the catalog such as Calypso, Fatty, Rocketball (20 x 4-inch-wide), and the Cuore with the same frame but 26 inches x 2.3-inch-wide wheels.

As with all Bikelec models, the fun for the rider starts right from the purchase process in our shop, as he enjoys selecting the options that will make his bike a customized product, adapted to his real needs. So, for example, although the base model of the Gran Calypso is fitted with an 8FUN rear motor of 250 Watts of nominal power and 45 Newton meters of torque, you can choose between two additional options of 500 Watts (rear) and 1000 Watts (central), the latter with no less than 160 Newton meters of torque, capable of turning the attractive folding Gran Calipso into a real thoroughbred horse that devours kilometers. It can also be equipped with a Samsung battery pack of up to 25 Ampere cells (depending on the motor you choose).

The digital display allows us to know all the information about the route, control the electric assistance system, choose between the five assistance levels that are configured as standard or change to three or nine levels of assistance as needed for our journeys, manage the lights and many other settings such as limiting the maximum speed or make use of the legal accelerator that drives us up to 6 km/h.

The Gran Calypso is firmly on the tarmac with its fat tires over four inches wide, fitted on sturdy double-wall aluminum rims with steel spokes and copper-reinforced heads.

To control thrust and perform efficient full braking when necessary, the Gran Calypso is fitted with Shimano M375 mechanical brakes or Shimano MT200 hydraulic brakes, gaining in sensitivity and progressiveness, with 180 and 160-millimeter diameter discs on the front and rear wheels respectively. 

In addition to the convenience of the open frame for mounting and dismounting, the folding ZOOM handlebars are height-adjustable, allowing riders of different heights to adjust them to a pleasant and relaxing straight-backed position when riding through the cityscape.

Steep, prolonged climbs are not a concern aboard the Grancalipso either. Eight gears, ensured by the efficient, lightweight, and proven Shimano Acera system, are enough to maintain our riding style, guaranteeing that we have the right gear in every situation.

To please the most demanding riders, in addition to the comfort offered by the Fat tires when riding on the roughest of roads and streets, the Promax seat post suspension greatly mitigates the effects of irregularities on the spine.

Other features make the Gran Calipso an excellent choice for our trips around town. Mudguards keep our clothes protected from dirt, while high-powered front and rear LED lights show the way and make us visible to drivers and pedestrians. Although the base model does not include a luggage rack, it can be optionally equipped with a front seat post rack for up to 10 kilograms and a rear rack with an integrated light for up to 25 kilograms.

Finally, another attractive aspect of the Gran Calipso's base model is its competitive price and the versatility offered by the 24 x 4-inch-wide fat wheels and folding frame (electric folding bikes in this range that combine equal value for money are not easy to find). Also, the additional costs for the customization options are in line with the current market. All this makes this electric folding bike a viable alternative, the result of Bekele’s efforts to offer proposals that satisfy a wide range of tastes, needs, and purchasing possibilities.
